Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am getting increasing acne day by day. How to prevent them from coming on my face?

Answered by Dr. Bincy Varghese

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Acne is very common in one's teens and twenties. Some continue to have breakouts even later in their life especially if there are some underlying hormonal issues or genetic predisposition. Pimples develop because of increased sebum secretion, inflammation, and bacteria residing on the skin called P. acnes has an important role to play. Treatment requires knowing your detailed history, any hormonal issues, any treatments you have taken in the past, products you use on your face, etc. Oral medicines and creams or gels are used for the treatment of acne. For mild eruptions, creams containing Clindamycin and Nicotinamide may be used. Benzoyl peroxide and Adapalene are other commonly prescribed anti-acne applications. But it is important to discuss with a dermatologist to decide on the correct line of treatment. Meanwhile, eat healthily, avoid excess milk and dairy, chocolates, and junk food. Exercise regularly and sleep well. Also, avoid using oil or greasy applications on the scalp and face and keep cosmetic use to a minimum. I hope this helps.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
