Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am getting increasing acne day by day. How do I prevent them from coming on my face? Please help.
Thank you.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I read your query and can understand your concern.
Acne is very common in one's teens and twenties. Some continue to have breakouts even later in their life, especially if there are some underlying hormonal issues or genetic predispositions. Pimples develop because of increased sebum secretion, inflammation, and bacteria residing on the skin called P. acnes, which have an important role to play.
Treatment requires knowing your detailed history, any hormonal issues, any treatments you have taken in the past, products you use on your face, etc. Oral medicines and creams or gels are used for the treatment of acne. For mild eruptions, creams containing Clindamycin and Nicotinamide may be used. Benzoyl peroxide and Adapalene are other commonly prescribed anti-acne applications. Kindly consult the doctor and take medicines accordingly.
However, it is important to discuss this with a dermatologist to decide on the correct line of treatment. Meanwhile, eat healthily and avoid excess milk and dairy, chocolates, and junk food. Exercise regularly and sleep well. Also, avoid using oil or greasy applications on the scalp and face and keep cosmetic use to a minimum.
I hope this helps.
Kindly revert in case of further queries.
Thank you.
