This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am 21 years old. Before two years, I went to a dermatologist for my acne problem. He prescribed me Ziana. It helped for about three to four months. I used it for a year. I still have acne. But it got worse. I use PanOxyl at night with acne free toner and a cleanser in the morning. I want to have good results. I am having acne problem for about six years. Recently, it has got worse now. I have large multiple white and blackheads on the cheek, chin, and jawline. Please help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

It can be acne vulgaris, seborrhea, or it can be due to hormonal imbalance. You should use Benzoyl peroxide 2.5 percent gel in the morning over the affected areas and continue with Ziana (Clindamycin and Tretinoin) at night. Since your acne is not getting controlled by the topical application, I recommend you go for oral treatment. You can start with a course of tablet Azithromycin 500 mg on three consecutive days in a week for four to six weeks. It will help you by keeping your face dry. Avoid applying cream or moisturizer. Avoid oiling the scalp and reduce taking sugary foods. I hope these measures will help you. Revert me after six weeks.
