Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My neck, back, face, arms, and hands feel itchy and have rashes after exposure to the sun. So I used creams and allergy tablets. But I stopped it as it did not improve my symptoms.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

If possible, provide me photographs of affected areas, which will help me understand your skin problem and give a treatment plan.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor for the reply,

My skin looks normal but feels itchy. I have attached the pictures showing my rashes. I use suncream, especially over the neck. There is no itching if I stay indoors.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Thank you for providing photographs (attachment removed to protect the patient's identity). It looks like photodermatitis (allergic rashes due to sunlight). Follow these steps. Use Mometasone (Propylene glycol) 0.1 % cream at night for seven days. Eat tablet Levocetirizine 5 mg at night for ten days. You should use a sunscreen lotion of more than 30 SPF (sun protection factor) once in three to four hours during the daytime. Cover your hands with sleeves and wear a hat to avoid sun exposure. The symptoms will subside after a few days.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor for the reply,

Will I recover after ten days of using the medication you suggested? Should I use the cream and eat tablets at the same time?

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Yes, it will subside with the treatment. But the exact duration is difficult to predict. It depends on your body immune response.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor for the reply,

Should I use allergy cream or allergy tablets if I get rashes during the treatment?

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Yes, you can use.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor for the reply,

I have acne on my shoulders. Is it related to my rashes? Can I use the same cream?

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Acne is different from rashes. Use Benzoyl peroxide creamy wash 4 %. Apply for 10 to 15 minutes over the affected area and then wash it.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor for the reply,

Are there any vitamin supplements for sun allergy or acne?

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

There are no such vitamins. However, both the conditions will improve gradually over time.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor for the reply,

Should I use the cream over the affected area before sleeping? Should I eat a tablet before sleeping?

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Yes you can use the cream before sleeping and eat tablet before sleeping.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor for the reply,

How often should I use Benzoyl peroxide creamy wash?

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Use Benzoyl peroxide creamy wash once daily until the symptoms subside.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
