Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 17-year-old male. My hair is thinning on the front, and with exposure to sun or light it can be seen clearly. I have been experiencing this since last year and I have not been using any products or straighteners of any sort. At first, I thought it was just my hair type but it started to decrease with time.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Do not worry. I will help you with your concern. I went through your history and photo (attachment removed to protect patient identity), it suggests you have androgenetic alopecia also known as male pattern baldness. Androgenetic alopecia (AGA) is a common cause of baldness in men. It is commonly seen in the middle age group men but can start at any age. AGA occurs due to underlying genetic and hormonal components. As AGA is a progressive condition and without treatment gradual hair thinning will continue. So we need to start you on treatment. Take any good biotin based hair multivitamins for hair available in your country. I will suggest a few brands to see if you can get it. Take Hair revive or Trichospire these are really good multivitamins for hair. Use Tugain lotion (Minoxidil + Finasteride), apply 1 ml of this lotion daily at night in the front and top of the scalp. This treatment will be for a long term. Gradually thinning will stop and hair regrowth will occur but slowly. When you start applying Tugain lotion, you will notice increased hair fall for a few days as Minoxidil sheds damaged hair and make a place for thick healthy hair. So do not stop applying the lotion.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor, thank you so much for the reply.

I have a few more questions to ask.

  1. When am I supposed to stop using Minoxidil?
  2. I have seen some reviews and people talking about Minoxidil being good as long as you continuously use it, and if stopped then it may result in an even worse scalp than the beginning so is there an alternative after stopping Minoxidil?
  3. Regarding the hair revive biotin - am I supposed to take two or four capsules a day?
  4. What are your thoughts about onion juice on the scalp?
  5. What would happen if I used the Tugain lotion twice a day?
  6. Can you recommend some natural treatment once or if my hair regrows?
  7. When can I expect the results?
  8. Does this increase the growth of eyebrows?
  9. What may be the side effects of the Tugain solution and how can I avoid or minimize the effects?

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Tugain lotion is what I suggested so this lotion is right but these hair revive tablets are for women. Search for hair revive men.

  1. AGA is a chronic progressive condition, without treatment hair thinning will continue so you will have to take medicine and lotions for a very long time but for now, you will have to continue at least for one year.
  2. When you start applying Minoxidil, for a few initial days hair fall will increase because Minoxidil causes the shedding of damaged hair to make place for new hair, but this shedding stops in a few days. Also when you stop Minoxidil, you see an increase in hair fall due to AGA only as the disease continues.
  3. Search for hair revive men and you can take two tablets together daily in the morning after breakfast.
  4. Yes, onion oil or juice is good for hair fall.
  5. We will increase the dose of Tugaine to twice daily after a month or two depending on the response.
  6. Eat healthy foods. Avoid stress. No need for anything else, take the medicines I suggested.
  7. At least six months then only you will see noticeable response.
  8. If lotion drips on the face then only eyebrows or facial hair growth can occur. So after applying Tugaine, do not lie down immediately wait for 15 to 20 minutes. Wash your hands after applying Tugaine.
  9. Tugaine can cause dryness and dandruff on the scalp. So apply oil for that.

Thanks and regards.
