Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have recurring urinary tract infections, bladder infections, and mild kidney infections. I recently went to the hospital, and my urine culture had 50 to 100 WBC with no bacteria. It got tested for STDS, and pregnancy both came out negative. I have recently heard of honeymoon cystitis. Could that be what it is? I also have a small renal cyst and a small possible cyst on my right ovary.

Kindly help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have seen your reports in detail (attachment removed to protect the patient's identity). It showed you had mild fever and urine leucocytosis (infectious cells in urine). There are no specific findings in the pelvis, just a small luteal cyst that should be resolved in the coming cycle, as it is not significant.

I suggest you to get a blood pregnancy test done immediately, as urine tests in early pregnancy cannot detect pregnancy hormones. The scan is also not predictable for very early intrauterine pregnancy.

Suspicion of the appendix or inflamed appendix is there, so you need the surgeon's review. So it is better to have one surgeon review only after a negative blood pregnancy test.

I suggest the below tips:

  • Have a healthy diet.
  • Drink enough water and cranberry juice.
  • Do exercise and yoga.
  • Have lots of fruits and vegetables.
  • Have strict hygiene.
  • Use soft, comfortable cotton undergarments.

Your symptoms of fever, pain, and leucocytosis match with appendicitis. Please exclude pregnancy with a blood pregnancy test. Cranberry juice reduces urine infection symptoms.

I hope this helps.

Thank you.
