Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My mother-in-law is 52 years old and is overweight. She suffers from hypertension and is on medication. If I encourage walking as a lifestyle habit, she keeps telling me she has knee pain if she goes a significant distance, like nearly more than 1 km. Should I let her go or insist she continue going for a walk, as it would be uncomfortable at first? What measures can she take to get BP under control?

Please help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

As far as your mother-in-law's symptoms are concerned, she has arthritis. Allow her to walk a considerable distance. Exercise is good to reduce blood pressure. I also suggest that you limit your consumption of fat. Here are some of the medications I recommend you to follow for your arthritis.

  1. Take tablet Acetaminophen 500mg (Paracetamol) thrice daily orally.

  1. Take tablet Diclofenac (NSAID) 100mg twice a day orally.

  1. Take tablet Piroxicam 40 mg (NSAID) once daily

  1. Apply Neurogesic cream on a regular basis.

However, kindly consult a specialist, talk to them, and take medications with their consent. If your symptoms persist, schedule another appointment.

I hope this helps. Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
