Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have asthma problems. During the lockdown, I started taking Theo-Asthalin tablets. Now I am addicted to the tablet. When I am not taking medicine, I feel respiratory illness. Could you please help?

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com. Thanks for your writing in and I understand your concern. Treatment of asthma is based on the severity of asthma. To know the severity, we need a pulmonary function test (PFT). Ideally, the best treatment of asthma is a regular inhaler Foracort (Formoterol and Budesonide) or Seroflo (Salmeterol and Fluticasone propionate). Oral tablets have many side effects; hence inhalers are preferred and recommended. I hope you find the reply useful.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thanks for the reply. When I stop taking the tablets, I feel respiratory illness. How can I stop taking medicine? Can you suggest any inhaler or any method to overcome the usage of the tablet?

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com. I suggest to take; Foracort (200 mcg) inhaler one puff twice daily or take Seroflo 125 mcg inhaler one puff twice daily. You can take either of these, whichever is available. I suggest watching videos online regarding the proper technique of inhaler use.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
