Hi doctor,

My child is 7 months old. I am worried about my child. Yesterday, I cleaned his umbilical cord and got two white worms. There is no wound in his umbilical cord. What to do?

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

You need to address this issue as soon as possible. It can become worse and your child can develop new symptoms. Please mention whether you have noticed urine, stools, pus, or blood oozing out from the umbilicus at any time. For worm infestation, give a thorough bath to the baby and clean the umbilicus with soap water regularly. Apply Ivermectin lotion to the umbilicus. You can give syrup Augmentin (Amoxicillin with Clavulanic acid). Kindly keep your pets and domestic animals away from the baby's surroundings. Your baby requires an ultrasound examination of the abdomen to see for any infestation in the internal organs. You can see for fits, blank staring, and unresponsiveness in the baby. It is good to take your baby to a pediatrician for a thorough evaluation. Have a follow-up regarding the progress of the baby's condition.
