Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am having lower back pain for the past three months. Pain management was done to relieve my lower backache, but it did not help. I am unable to exercise and lift heavy weights. My blood reports showed high cholesterol and triglycerides and low levels of vitamin B12 and D.
What should I do now?
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concerns. I hope you have consulted a doctor earlier for pain management in the lower back. Suppose you have not consulted a doctor yet, I strongly recommend you to consult a doctor in person for a complete physical examination and also do an MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) to rule out the possible cause.
The pain is primarily due to mechanical strain like sitting for a long time or driving two-wheelers at your age. Once after confirming the absence of significant issues, we can conclude the cause of pain to be mechanical and start taking painkillers and physiotherapy for better relief.
Taking painkillers can affect your kidneys. So, please do not take them without consulting a doctor. Low vitamin D can also be the cause of your lower back pain, and it needs supplementation. You need to take vitamin D supplements in higher doses initially to bring back their levels to normal range.
About your other blood reports (attachments removed to protect the patient’s identity), you have a deranged lipid profile which is unusual at your age. We have to evaluate the cause for it thoroughly. Do you have a family history of increased cholesterol levels or heart-related diseases? If yes, then kindly start your medication to lower cholesterol.
Unfortunately, I cannot prescribe medicines over health queries due to restrictions as per telemedicine guidelines. If you wish, you can schedule a video consultation with me for a complete evaluation and prescription.
Take care.
