Why am I having constant back pain?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am usually a healthy 20 years old. But I always try to forget about my back pain. It gets very painful when I sleep, lay on my back, lay on my stomach, sit, stand, sit crossed legged, lean on anything, horse ride, walk, run, walk up stairs, etc. I have tried everything, massaging but it made it worse, it did go along my spine where it hurts, and one of the bones actually did hurt (the nerves I mean). I cannot bend over either. I have tried deep heat, and warm water bottles, I have not tried Panadol or Nurefon, because I cannot swallow tablets. I do not know why. But the point is, it hurts every moment of every day.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern. Back pain at your young age could be due to the possible stiffness of muscles on your back especially if you are not doing regular exercise. However, back pain could be related to any possible urogenital problem especially related to periods or the urinary tract infection. I highly advise running a few diagnostic tests to determine the right diagnosis like urine analysis, complete blood count, back X-ray. Apply analgesic cream or patch locally. If you cannot swallow tablets, can take as effervescent analgesic tablets or powder to dissolve in water and drink it. Discuss this further with your caring doctor. I hope this helps. Thank you and take care. Regards.
