Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have been suffering from bad breath from a very long time. I consulted a dentist three to four months back and they told me that my teeth are fine and there is nothing wrong. But I feel I have this bad breath all the time, even if I brush twice a day. I tried using mouthwash as suggested but of no use. I am not sure what the issue is and I feel the white coat on my tongue appears within an hour of brushing. Could you please help me with this bad breath issue?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I will help you out. But before that, I would like to see the status of your teeth and tongue. Kindly upload an image as they will help me find what other dentists had missed. I will be waiting for the image, kindly do not use the flash to keep the colors natural.

Coating over the tongue is due to food layer deposition after you eat or drink tea or breakfast.

Kindly let me know if you have had acidity in a regular basis or GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease). These issues had to be ruled out first.

Kindly avoid being an empty stomach. Fall in pH of mouth also leads to an acidic smell.

Avoid sulphur rich foods such as eggs. They create sulphur smell that might lead to bad breath.

I advise chewing sugarfree chewing gum.

Eat some snacks or biscuits in short intervals to avoid being an empty stomach.

If acidity is an issue try Mucaine gel (antacid).

Use a tongue scraper every time you brush. Brush twice gently using a soft brush. Use Himalaya complete care toothpaste.

Your reply will be the key in diagnosis. Kindly read and answer me so I can decide what is exactly causing the bad breath issue.
