What can be done to treat painful, burning bump or swelling in my second toe?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have a sudden formation of a painful, burning bump or swelling in my second toe on my left foot that has lasted for a day. I am attaching pictures of it. Kindly suggest.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

From the pictures attached (attachment removed to protect the patient's identity), swelling is present in the left foot's second toe. You have mentioned the duration of the swelling in the left toe, which is one day only. Are you taking any antibiotics for the swelling? Most probably, it is acute paronychia. I would suggest you take tablet Chymoral AP (Aceclofenac, Paracetamol, and Trypsin Chymotrypsin) one tablet twice a day for five days and tablet Pantoprazole 40 mg once daily if you have gas formation symptoms. Consult your specialist doctor, discuss with them and take medications with their consent. For fomentation, use lukewarm water. Avoid wearing tight shoes. Please follow up if you have any further related queries about it

Thank you.
