How can a patient manage the black spot on his penis with bumps around it?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I recently had unprotected sex with a girl who insisted that she did not have an infection. However, I noticed a black spot on my penis with little bumps around it. Is it serious?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

The picture (attachment removed to protect the patient's identity) shows that the lesions are due to folliculitis or furunculosis. Though more detailed evaluation is needed, drugs like Ibuprofen can help reduce the inflammatory reaction, and if needed, antibiotics are given. Avoid wearing tight underwear and keep the part dry. Is there any severe pain in the lesions?

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor for the reply,

I have no severe pain or discharge.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

In that case, it appears that this is due to inflammation. However, if the symptoms worsen or lesions increase, visit a doctor for a physical evaluation. I suggest you take anti-inflammatory drugs. Consult a specialist doctor, discuss with them, and take medications with their consent.

Thank you.
