Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My 13 months old baby is still crawling and trying to walk. He got some blister in his right knee and punctured it about two weeks back. The wound appears dry at times and at times it is again looking fresh. This could be due to the fact that he crawls. Please tell me what to do. It has become a lump like thing.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern for your child. But I need to know a few more things:

  1. Since when has it happened?
  2. Is there any fever episode in last few days?
  3. Can you send a picture? It would be a lot easier to understand your child's condition.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

It is from about two weeks back. No fever episode. The picture has been attached.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

As far as I could comprehend from the picture (as the picture is not very clear) it seems to be related to crawling only (attachment removed to protect patient identity). The area is not able to heal as repeated injury occurring at knee probably due to crawling. My limited advice would be:

  1. You can use some antiseptic cream.
  2. Always keep knees covered, use full pants, not shorts.
  3. Use cotton pants only.
  4. Avoid baby crawl on rough surfaces.
  5. You can put some soft carpet on floors. Knee pads are available, you can use them.

If persists even after this, you should see a doctor or follow after five days.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
