Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

From the past few days, my upper stomach is bloated. However, the lower stomach is normal. I feel very heavy after eating food, and I am not able to eat much. I sometimes have nausea as well. I went to see a doctor, and he asked me to do an endoscopy. I have attached herewith the reports of the endoscopy. I could not meet him after the procedure, as he had an emergency. Are my reports fine? Is this a case of ulcer or stomach cancer? A month back, I had the same issue, but it got resolved in two days. I am not taking any medicines, but the doctor suggested me an HP-kit.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

  • I have seen your endoscopy reports (attachment removed to protect patient identity).
  • You are RUT (rapid urease test) positive.
  • I will need to see your biopsy reports as well in order to be able to suggest a treatment.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

The doctor did not suggest a biopsy. He had just recommended me an HP-kit after the endoscopy. What is a RUT?

Answered by Dr. Babu Lal Meena

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

  • Generally, a biopsy is needed before starting this treatment. Or a serology of H.pylori can be done. If both the tests are positive, we then start the HP-kit treatment. Anyways, at present, you can continue the same.
  • You can do an H.pylori fecal antigen test. This test is very specific and is done before a treatment for the eradication of the infection is decided.
  • RUT is rapid urease test. It is used to detect H.pylori bacteria.
  • Revert with the reports.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for the reply. Can I do this test after the course is over? Will the medicine cure my problem? Is this something serious?

Answered by Dr. Babu Lal Meena

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

  • There is nothing serious.
  • The medication will take care of the issue. Sometimes, it may be necessary to repeat the treatment, if there is no response. Then, we may need to repeat the tests as well.
  • Generally, we do a couple of tests before starting the treatment. But, since you have already been started on the treatment, it is not mandatory to do so now. You can do it on a later date after the completion of the course.

Have a great day.
