HomeAnswersPediatricsblood testHow can I interpret the blood test results of my 1-year-old daughter?

What does the blood report suggest about the mild increase in creatinine levels of a child?

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I need help reading the test results for my one-year-old daughter. I cannot understand it, and the doctors would not break it down.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

As per the attached report (attachment removed to protect the patient's identity), there is a mild increase in creatinine level indicative of kidney dysfunction. However, the increase is a very mild and insignificant variation from the normal level. Possibly a wrong laboratory variation. More details regarding her conditions are required to be discussed further.

Hope this helps.

Thanks and take care.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for your reply.

These are all the tests they did, and they said she is fine, but she is sitting here throwing up all the time. She has had bleeding ears for the last three months, and her ear infection still has drainage. Also, she just got over her jaundice, so I am lost at why they said everything is fine.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

The tests did have normal values, as you can also read. The normal ranges are mentioned below the test name. The complaints of vomiting are due to gastrointestinal infection or dysmotility, which are not traceable through blood tests.

You can give Emeset syrup 2.5 ml and control vomiting. However, please consult a physician, discuss with them, and start taking the medications with their consent. Also, give only homemade healthy foods and completely avoid bottle feeding. Whatever precautions you take, the bottle feed per se will upset your baby's stomach. So stop bottle and spoonfeeding and revert to me.

Hope this helps.

Thanks and take care.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
