Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am a mother of a four months old baby. My baby is not taking milk from my right breast. Recently I saw a white color dot on my breast, so I have given milk from the right side. Now it has turned red and after that pus-like thing came out and a small hole has formed. What should I do about this? Is this dangerous? Please clarify.

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your concern.

Since you are a breastfeeding mother, it can be possible that you might have an infection that can only be confirmed after examination. It can be a small furuncle due to folliculitis which happen in the areas of hair follicles or it can be an abscess.

I suggest you get it examined by a family doctor or a gynecologist.

It is better to not feed the baby from the affected breast till you get it examined. Keep the area clean and do not let the baby get in contact with the pus or the affected area. Keep the baby and yourself checked for any rising temperature or other unusual signs and if noted consult a doctor.

I hope this has helped you.

Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
