Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I shaved my head today and saw a cluster of brown spots patch on my scalp. The last time I shaved my head was three months back and I am pretty sure this cluster of spots was formed on my scalp in these last three months which I noticed today. I read a few articles on the internet and went through some photos, it is pointing to melanoma of the head and I am very tensed now.

Please help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Thank you for stopping by!

I am here to provide expert opinions on your medical issues.

I have gone through the photos (attachments removed to protect the patient's identity). It is good that you examine every time after shaving your hair. Not all hyperpigmented lesions are melanoma. It can be atypical nevus. The lesion appears to have a clear border, small size, symmetry, no atypical colors, not any atypical features or growth. You have noticed that it has appeared in these three months. Please do not panic. But to be on the safer side as it is in the scalp area, please consult your doctor for further evaluation. Dermoscopy will help. If required biopsy may be done for diagnosis.

Thank you for consulting me.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
