Is burning sensation due to diabetics or hypertension?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My mother has had a burning sensation under her feet for a few days. When it is burning, she like walking barefoot and applying the cream. She is diabetic and hypertensive. Current medications: Glycomet GP 3/850 one in the morning and one at night. Voglibode 0.3 one in the morning, Telmistat Am 5mg, Orvas 5 mg, Nexito 20mg and Alzolam 0.5 mg. Her blood tests were done, and as her iron level was low, she was advised Eido Fe once a day. Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com

We are here to help you. This is a sign of diabetic neuropathy that is affecting her. This requires clinical examination. This is not a reversible condition but can be well controlled with medicines. I prefer to treat my patients with diabetic neuropathy with a combination of Pregabalin and Methylcobalamine (vitamin B12). I hope it helps you. If you have any further queries, please ask me.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thank you for the reply. EIDO FE capsule is the medicine she is taking now, and it should be continued for about two more months. So for how long does she has to take Methylcobalamin 500 mg. Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

She would need to add Pregabalin along with the supplements of Methylcobalamine she has been taking. Please feel comfortable asking me for any further queries as this is my field of expertise. Good luck.
