Hello doctor,
I got two crowns four days ago on my first premolar and first molar teeth, both on the upper right side. I feel a burning sensation in the gums around them, and the strange thing is that when I bite on the molar one, I feel like it is not fixed correctly, and I push it back with every bite. Is it a normal feeling, and will it go with time, or is something wrong?
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I have gone through your query and understand your concern. This occurs commonly after crown cementation, and this is not normal. These symptoms occur when there are slight high points on the crown. This denotes there are quite a few refinements that need to be done on the crown. This will usually be done on the day of the review appointment.
Root canal-treated tooth takes 3 to 5 days to heal completely, and only then the crown has to be fixed. If the crown is fixed too early, even before the complete healing of the root canal treatment, these symptoms occur. Please visit your dentist for a review appointment and get the crowns checked for bite issues. If the crowns are fixed early, then you can wait for another week for them to completely heal. Meanwhile, avoid chewing on your right side for a couple of days so to facilitate healing.
I hope this helps.
