Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I have been urinating frequently recently and have an on/off burning sensation at the tip of my penis. I am taking Metformin 500 mg, Crestor 10 mg, and Aspirin 80 mg daily.
Please help.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I have addressed your concern.
Your symptoms could be related to urinary tract infections, including urethritis, and in males, we consider UTIs complicated as the incidence is not as common as in women. So, in addition to the analysis you have sent, we need to follow up on the cultures to rule UTIs out. You should also have an ultrasound to assess any urinary tract abnormality or obstruction that can cause an infection or symptoms like yours. A prostate exam for benign prostatic hyperplasia (enlargement) should be performed, as a large prostate can cause urinary symptoms and infections. A gonorrhea test (PCR) can be done with a urethral swab to rule out urethritis secondary to a gonococcal infection, which is considered a sexually transmitted disease if you have the risk factors like multiple or new sexual partners.
I hope I have answered and helped you.
Do not hesitate to reach out for help when needed.
I am always here to help.
Thank you.
