Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I bruise easily and severely when getting blood drawn and I also have an unexplained compression fracture. I need your advice. The following are my blood test results:

  1. Abs immature gran present in the blood.

  2. High WBC (white blood corpuscles) count.

  3. High platelets.

  4. Low BUN ratio.

  5. Low Ag ratio.

  6. High lymphocytes.

Could this indicate some kind of cancer?

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understand your concern.

Based on these findings leukemia or cancer cannot be ruled out. I need to know your full CBC (complete blood count) report before giving any comment. Immature granulocytes are released in blood in infection as well and from that reactive platelet can be high. So it does not mean cancer only. In blood cancer, the total WBC (white blood count) count is usually very high, greater than one hundred thousand per cubic milliliter.Your work up done should be as follows:

  1. Liver, spleen, lymph node palpation.

  2. Urine protein electrophoresis and urine for Bence Jones protein.

  3. Serum calcium, vitamin D level, etc.

If needed, CT (computed tomography) scan and bone marrow aspiration like the higher investigation is done.Hope your concern is solved. Consult a nearby physician for examination and discuss all these suggestions.Take care
