Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I was working in the garden planting and suddenly my heartbeat bet so strong and fast and I felt a sharp pain in my chest. It lasted for about three minutes. I went and did a stress test. I did not feel any pain, only a small short pain in the end that did not even last and was more of a bothering feeling not exactly pain. The day I planted was the first day I felt this pain after I made a big effort. Is there any danger?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Was there any recurrence of this event? If yes, how frequently? This can be a cardiac arrhythmia like PSVT (paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia) or atrial fibrillation, in which the heart rate suddenly goes up and also suddenly decreases. The blood pressure falls during these episodes and one has chest pain, dizziness, fainting, blackouts, sometimes syncope. Usually, ECG is normal as it is usually done in between the episodes. ECG done during episodes will show abnormality. You will need prolonged ECG monitoring. ln order to abort such episodes, you should try to cough hard. You should have beta blockers like Metoprolol for it. Consult your specialist doctor, discuss with him or her and start taking the medicine with their consent. Hope this helps you and get back if you have any doubts.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
