Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I had pain in my left shoulder blade and chest. After taking medication, the chest pain went away, but the pain in my left shoulder blade has worsened significantly. My ECG is normal, and my echocardiogram is also normal, except for showing a 'jerky septum.' The doctor mentioned that a jerky septum is a normal finding. Should I consult another doctor or trust his advice? I am attaching my reports for your review.
Please advise.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I have reviewed your reports (attachment removed to protect patient identity), and all of them are normal. It is uncommon for someone your age to experience chest pain related to heart disease. Please keep in mind that many other conditions, such as an abdominal ulcer, can also cause chest pain. I recommend continuing with the prescribed medication for pain and avoiding heavy lifting for now.
Best regards.
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
Thank you for the reply.
What is a jerky septum? Is that always a normal finding?
Hello,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
A jerky septum is also known as a left bundle branch block (LBBB). It means that the electrical impulse traveling from the top of your heart to the left side is slightly delayed. I have seen cases where this occurs in young adults and, at times, in individuals with heart disease. It is only a concern if you have a history of heart disease or Lyme disease. If not, it is generally not problematic. It can also occur if you have a history of heart surgery.
I hope this helps you.
Thank you.
