Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am trying to conceive for the past year. This month I took the tablet Clomid for the first time, before tablet Clomid, my cycle was regular after taking the tablet Clomid I am not getting my period on my date. So I took a home pregnancy test and it came negative. Could this be due to pregnancy? Or is the tablet Clomid affecting my cycle?

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

Tablet Clomid (Clomiphene citrate) is a medication used to induce ovulation in women who are having difficulty conceiving. It is possible that the tablet Clomid has affected your menstrual cycle, causing your period to be delayed or irregular. However, it is also possible that you may be pregnant, despite the negative home pregnancy test result. Home pregnancy tests are designed to detect the presence of the hormone human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) in your urine, which is produced by the placenta after the implantation of a fertilized egg. However, these tests may not always be accurate, especially if taken too early or if there is a problem with the test. If you have missed your period and have had a negative home pregnancy test, it is recommended that you wait a few more days and take another test. If your period still does not arrive and the pregnancy test remains negative, you should speak to your gynecologist. They may recommend a blood test to check for pregnancy or other tests to determine the cause of your delayed period. It is important to note that Clomid can have side effects, including changes in the menstrual cycle, headaches, and nausea.

Regards.
