Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am 36 years old. I am trying to get conceive, but my periods are irregular. In the past, I was never able to conceive with irregular periods. I do have children, but they were conceived when my cycles were normal. I do not feel like I have time to wait it out though. I have been trying for a year now. I need to know if Clomid would be a good option me. Please explain.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have read your problem.

  • Have you done any tests for your periods? If not, then you need to do the following blood test.
  • Check your blood sugar post prandial, thyroid-stimulating hormone, follicle stimulating hormone, AMH (anti-mullerian hormone), prolactin, testosterone, Hb (hemoglobin), total blood count, DC (differential count) levels and ultrasound of pelvis to see the cause of irregularity.
  • You should also do partner's semen analysis.
  • Clomid -  Clomifene can work only if your tests are normal. Anyway, considering the age you may need assisted reproduction procedures, the type of which will depend on the reports.
