Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I want to tell you that my monocyte count is zero percent and wish to know how to increase it. Please advise.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understand your concern. You have not mentioned your total leukocyte count. A complete blood count (CBC) report also should be attached here for clarity. As such low monocyte count can have many underlying causes like steroid medication, bone marrow suppression, HIV (human immunodeficiency virus), an autoimmune disorder like SLE (systemic lupus erythematosus), rheumatoid arthritis, etc. Hence these causes can be ruled out by detailed history and physical examination. Your liver, spleen, and lymph node should be palpated. When the monocyte count is zero, the chance of acquiring infection is high. Because monocyte cells help in the phagocytosis of pathogenic organisms. So if any specific cause is found then it should be treated accordingly. You can consume more fruits, green leafy vegetables, and protein-rich food to increase monocyte count. Consult a physician for examination with keeping all this in mind.

Hope your concern is solved.

Write back to icliniq.com if you have further queries.

Regards.
