Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I had sex with a person and I am not sure about her health status. While having sex my condom tore and I removed it and used another condom to continue having sex. I ejaculated in the condom. I think she did not use lube and her vagina was so tight. I asked her about her health status and she said that she is clean. I also asked the man who arranged the meeting, even he said that she was clean and it was safe to have sex with her. My worry is do I have any risk of getting infected by HIV (human immunodeficiency virus)? After returning home I found a paper size cut on my penis and my penis is not circumcised. I need your help. When should I get tested?

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understand your concern.

See, you are always at risk of HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) if you are doing it with any unknown person. No one will accept he or she has it. And many a times one actually does not know. Since you had a condom rupture and you also have a cut that you observed later, you might contract HIV or any other STD (sexually transmitted disease). Same is applicable for her as well, she may also get it from you in case you have it and you even do not know about it. Now I would like to suggest you on how to deal with it. You should get your HIV testing done. You may have to get it to be repeated after a few months. Also, get the person you had sex with tested, in case she comes out to be positive, you can be given a prophylactic treatment. You can go to any government hospital at their ICTC (integrated counselling and testing center) to get tested as soon as you can.

I hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards.
