I am 52 with dyslipidemia. What does my coronary angio suggest?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am a 52-year-old male suffering from medical conditions such as diabetes, dyslipidemia, and a smoking history. I got 640-slice CT coronary angiography. Can you elaborate on the condition from the report about the risk factors? Do I need surgery? What is the healing method? Thanks.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern. From your reports (attachments removed to protect the patient's identity), it is evident that out of three main vessels, one is critically blocked. You cannot undergo an operation because of high sugar levels. The risk is 30 % to 50 % if the sugar is not controlled. If the sugar level is controlled and you take Aspirin regularly, it can be managed with tablets. If the pain worsens, you can go for stenting. In my opinion, no need for open heart surgery. You will be alright soon. I hope this information will help. Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you so much for your review. What are the prevention techniques and food habits to avoid this in the future? Thanks.

Answered by Dr. Pandian. P

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern. Strict diabetic food and control are more than enough. Try to avoid oily foods and fats. Take a high-fiber diet and green leafy vegetables. Strictly follow the advice of your doctor. I hope this information will help you. Thank you.
