Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have attached my biopsy report. Can you confirm if I am suffering from Crohn's disease? If not, can the report be wrong? Thank you.

Answered by Dr. Utkarsh Sharma

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern and will help you regarding it. I have seen the attached report (the attachment was removed to protect the patient’s identity). The histopathological features described are highly indicative of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) or could be Crohn's disease. However, the report should be correlated with radiological findings and clinical findings to arrive at a confirmatory diagnosis. I suggest you undergo a calprotectin stool test, it is a noninvasive test that helps distinguish between IBD, ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease, and IBS (irritable bowel syndrome). This can help confirm a diagnosis. Treatment is usually aimed at disease remission. I hope your query was answered. Take care and stay healthy.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I have read your query and I can understand your concern. Observing the histological features it could be or might not be Crohn's disease. The current available information mostly suggests Crohn's disease. The Crohn's disease can only be confirmed if other tests are performed. I hope this information will help you. Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
