Is it safe to inflate my balls with saline water using a needle as part of a game?

Hi doctor,

I wish to ask about a specific sex game in which I wish to inflate my balls with saline solution. I know about hygiene. I plan to insert a saline solution by syringe into my ball sack to make it temporarily larger. I will clean all my balls and hands with spirit first. How shall I do this, and is it safe?

I know what you are talking about and that an astonishingly large number of people do it. I have seen a lot of patients come up with this query.

Please do not get me wrong. I have no prejudices, am open-minded, and believe in liberty and personal freedom. However, as a physician, I can only warn you not to do that. It is not as safe as some people believe, even when it is done under a strict hygiene regime.

The saline solution causes reactive inflammation. This inflammation cannot be treated with antibiotics because “reactive” means “as a consequence of an irritation,” like when you scratch your skin too much and get reactive eczema.

Of course, you are an adult and can do whatever you want. But I can and must warn you. Otherwise, I would be careless.

Reactive inflammation is unspecific by definition and is a headache for every physician because we cannot do anything against this type of inflammation than prescribe steroids. It has an autoimmune aspect. However, believe it or not, science is still unsure which mechanisms are involved, but it seems complex and caused by multiple factors. It can happen to everyone on almost all tissue types.

Do not get me wrong. I do not want to destroy your wish to have this saline play. Compared to things that other people do, it is in the medium danger range. However, I am a medical doctor and have to warn you that there are risks that laypeople might not know about. It is your private decision, but I want you to be well-informed medically and not by information from the internet.

As sorry as I am, I am forced by law not to teach a layperson how to hurt himself. Just one general thought. Before sonography (ultrasound) was available, urologists used a simple technique to have a look inside the scrotum. They simply used a flashlight. The scrotum is so thin that it lets the light of a bright flashlight easily shine through. So they could detect where sensible structures were. This is a historical side note.
