Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am an 18-year-old girl who has some serious dark circles. I have sleeping issues and I do not drink much water, because I am unable to. I tried a few home remedies like cucumber juice, potato juice, lemon, and honey, but the dark circles do not seem to go away. It is a hereditary issue so, I thought I must consult a dermatologist. Kindly suggest any gel or cream for removing dark circles or any home remedies that are effective in removing my dark circles permanently in no time.

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern.

Dark circles under the eyes or periocular hyperpigmentation are a common cosmetic concern. In your case, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation due to continuous rubbing of eyes in allergic conjunctivitis and atopic dermatitis along with lack of adequate sleep, and stress could also contribute to the issue. I suggest you use the medicine Niacinamide (Fair eye) daily at night after consulting your GP. You can also go for a chemical peel. The most frequently used peels for dark circles are Arginine and Lactic acid peels. Argipeel (Arginine and lactic acid) is one of the readily available combination peels for dark circles. It contains Arginine (20 %), Lactic acid (20 %), Aloe vera (1 %), and Allantoin (0.5 %). The peeling should be done once in three weeks and requires a total of four to six sessions for good results.

Other peels like Glycolic acid (15 % to 20 %) with Kojic acid also give good results. Also, you can use Niacinamide (Face care) face wash twice daily. Try to have adequate sleep and consume lots of green leafy vegetables and fruits.

I hope you had a pleasant experience at icliniq. Do get back if you have any further queries.

Thank you.
