Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am a 29-year-old female. My periods keep getting delayed every month. I am not currently under any medications. Does the chance of pregnancy increase when your periods get delayed every month?
Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
Thank you for your query.
I understand your concern. Late periods can happen for many reasons other than pregnancy. The causes can range from hormonal imbalances to medical conditions like polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), uterine fibroids, and adenomyotic uterus. Too much androgen or male hormones and an imbalance in thyroid and prolactin levels can affect your regular monthly cycle. This hormonal imbalance prevents the egg from developing or releasing properly. As a result, women with PCOS often miss their periods or have delayed or irregular periods.
It is important to get a proper diagnosis for your delayed periods. I suggest you to follow a few instructions mentioned below.
I hope this has helped you. Thank you.
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
Thank you for your reply.
My periods get delayed by a day or two since my wedding. We are planning to conceive, and we have been trying every alternate day during ovulation for the past three months. Why have I not conceived yet? Does body heat prevent pregnancy? When should we have intercourse to get pregnant?
Kindly help.
Hello,
