Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My period got delayed for the last 20 days. The pregnancy test is also negative.

What is the reason for the delayed period since the pregnancy test is negative? Please help me.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

Sometimes periods might get delayed by one or two weeks because of stress or a recent illness. And also a pregnancy testing kit might show false results in the early days.

So if it is not pregnancy, then there should be some pathology like PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome) or thyroid disorders.

I suggest you do the following laboratory tests to rule out any pathology.

  1. USG (ultrasound sonography) pelvis scan.
  2. Thyroid profile.
  3. CBC (complete blood count).
  4. Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
