Hi doctor,
My daughter is seven years old. She has a decayed tooth in the upper right side of her mouth. She used to brush her teeth twice daily, but I can see some deposits on her teeth even after brushing twice. How to maintain oral hygiene in children? How to manage the decayed tooth? Does she require extraction or filling for that tooth? Kindly suggest.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern. I suggest you consult a dentist and take an X-ray. If the cavity is not deep, filing can be done. If it is a large cavity, pulpectomy or extraction is required.
I also suggest you follow the following instructions to maintain your daughter's oral hygiene.
1. Use a little amount of toothpaste and advice her to brush all sides of the tooth in a circular motion or brush from the gums to the teeth in a slanting position.
I hope this helps you.
Thank you.
IOPA (intraoral periapical radiograph).
Probable diagnosis:Dental caries.
