Patient's Query

Hello doctor

I am a 19-year-old and have so many family problems. I am so afraid of them. Because of depression and anxiety, my grades are dropping. I cannot even tell them about it. They just keep blaming me. I used to have a boyfriend, he was so good. but three to four weeks later I feel suffocated, I feel like a burden. At that time I used to have so many panic attacks. I feel like what I am doing. I am disappointing everyone, no one deserves me, etc. And I also cannot keep any friendships. Now I started to hear some things like someone talking and laughing (in my parent's voice). I love them very much, I really cannot live without them but I feel uncomfortable around them. I do not know what should I do. I keep having mood swings really often, and I cannot concentrate on my studies. Can you please tell me what should I do? I really do not want to live, I even tried suicide. I am helpless.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thank you for taking help from a psychiatrist. You may have a borderline personality disorder. It is a type of personality or nature. You may have a chronic feeling of emptiness, emotional outbursts, overwhelming behavior, and self-harming behavior. You mostly feel that no one understands you in this world. You may have difficulty to keep the relationship for a long time. You may have frequent job-related issues. You may have anger outbursts. There is non-pharmacological management for it. You should try to follow the below guidelines for it.

  1. You should do exercises daily for 30 to 45 minutes like at least going for a walk.
  2. You should do meditation for 20 minutes daily. Just sit in one place in a comfortable position and try to concentrate on your normal breathing, Do not stop or force yourself to stop your thoughts, just let it be. This will help you to increase your concentration as well as reduce anxiety.
  3. You should eat healthy home-cooked foods, and avoid junk foods.
  4. You should spend quality time with friends and family daily or do video calls if you are living away from your family.
  5. Do not concentrate on your family issues.
  6. You should spend time on creative hobbies like reading good books, writing journals, painting, drawing, and learning new skills or language or musical instruments.
  7. You should get enough seven to eight hours of sleep daily.
  8. You must avoid tobacco, alcohol, or any substance abuse.
  9. Everything will be fine. Study and make your career. Live your life, do not just spend it. Be bold and confident. I hope that you get your answer.

Please let me know if you want some help.

    Thank you.
