Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am 33 years old, my weight is 147 lbs, and my height is 5.7 feet. I had diabetes since last year. In the morning, my FBS is 140 mg/dL, and after eating three to four chapati it reaches 250 mg/dL. I am not on any medications. Kindly advise me on safe medicine and diet plan.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have read your query, and I can understand your concern.

Firstly, you will need to accurately check your blood sugar levels. Along with FBS (fasting blood sugar), you have to do post-prandial blood sugar after two hours of breakfast or lunch. Also, you should understand that proper exercise and diet routines would help control your blood sugar levels better. I suggest the following measures:

  1. Exercise for at least 30 to 45 minutes daily, five times a week.

  2. Avoid high-calorie foodstuffs like fats, fried food, starchy foods like rice or potatoes, sugar-rich fruits like mangoes, grapes, bananas, or figs, bakery products like cakes or bread, and Indian sweets.

  3. Try having your tea or coffee without sugar, though one cup of tea with sugar would not harm you.

I hope this information will help you.

Thank you.
