Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My two-year-old son has had a cough and phlegm for a while and was taken to a pediatrician who diagnosed a cold and prescribed a Seretide inhaler three days ago. On the second day, he threw up a few times in the day and in the evening but otherwise was himself, had plenty of liquids, and ate all his food. He was fine all day yesterday, eating and drinking well. Today as he was trying to nap, he started to complain and cry from ear pain and subsequently seemed to be fine, and no medication was given. Tonight his eye started to release some pus which we have been removing with sterile water. Do any of the above seem to be from one linked issue? Obviously, we plan to visit the pediatrician again, but given the time right now thought of asking for some advice here.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I thoroughly read your query and understand your concern.

The symptoms are all linked. However, as per the above symptoms, you need to start an antibiotic since there is ear pain and discharge from the eyes which shows the severity of the infection. Please visit your pediatrician to find out what antibiotics need to be started after the child has been examined. I suggest Augmentin (Amoxycillin and Clavulanic acid) as it is normally a good choice for such cases.

Hope this helps.

Kind regards.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
