Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have a mild localized effect of meralgia paresthetica on my left leg in the knee area with mild numbness around the localized knee area. I have had mild pain in the left leg behind the knee disk for two years. The doctor gave me Etodolac 400 mg twice a day and Pantoprazole. My total cholesterol is 220 with triglycerides 310 from the last five years. Right now, I am taking Amitriptyline HCl 10 mg at night. Kindly advise about the safety of Etodolac. Internet sources threaten a stroke, heart attack, and stomach bleeding. So, I am worried. Kindly advise.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Etodolac is a pretty safe drug to use in normal individuals. But, people with a risk of heart disease or high blood pressure should not use this tablet. Secondly, an antacid like Pantoprazole or Rabeprazole should be used with this drug to negate the chances of acidity or stomach bleeding. Thirdly, it should be used only for a short duration like 10 days. If not, the chances of side effect increases. Overall, I think it is a safe drug to use for 10 days. This professional advice provided by me stands subject to the actual examination of report/image and is based entirely on inputs provided to me. It should be correlated with clinical findings. Regards.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I do not have a high blood pressure. I was also easy with Naproxen sodium for a month. I never had an allergy to any medicine like Diclofenac, Aceclofenac, etc. I am only taking Amitriptyline HCl 10 mg at night. I have borderline cholesterol. I have gone through a detailed blood test like CBC, homocysteine, liver profile, renal profile, element toxicity, blood sugar, and thyroid. All the results were normal. I have asked because internet research can cause a lot of fear and confusion.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Yes, but do not worry. You can take tablets Etodolac which is safe for you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
