Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Yesterday, I got hit with a ball in my left eye. Since the incident, I feel like a piece of dirt is stuck in front of my eyes. And when I move my eye, the dirt follows along. It does not hurt, but I would like to know what it can be. Also, I am taking tablets Vyvanse and Arpizol. Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I went through your query and understood your concern. Your symptoms are suggestive of floaters. Usually, these are benign, and you do not need treatment. However, in your case, it started yesterday after the trauma, possibly due to blood in the vitreous chamber. This is just a possibility. So I suggest you consult a local ophthalmologist and get your retina examined. I hope this helps you out. Kindly follow up if you have more doubts.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thank you for your reply.

Is this something that I need to test my eye? I am out of town and cannot see a doctor until the weekend. Is it fine to go on till then with no extra care? Please guide me.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern, and an eye test is not required. Usually, these hemorrhages resolve on their own without medication, but in very few patients, there is an associated risk of retinal detachment. Though your symptoms are not suggestive of retinal detachment, I still suggest you visit an ophthalmologist for a retina opinion as soon as you get an opportunity. As your symptoms do not suggest a serious eye issue, you can wait till the weekend but get your eyes examined as soon as possible. I hope this helps you out. Take care.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
