Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I need help understanding the ultrasound result. I have talked to two of my doctors, who each had a different take on it.

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I would be happy to answer your query.

Your ultrasonography report (attachments removed for patient identity protection) says mild changes are seen in your liver parenchyma in coarsened echotexture. Changes can be seen in the liver and other organs. Usually, aminotransferase levels can be elevated in conditions such as sepsis or pyelonephritis, as sepsis can cause liver dysfunction leading to elevated enzymes. This happens because in kidney diseases, toxins build up in the body, and as kidneys cannot flush them out completely, these excess toxins damage the liver.

Once your kidney infection or sepsis is treated, you can reassess your liver enzyme levels to see if they fall to normal (assuming there is no primary liver disease such as steatosis or cirrhosis).

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thank you for your answer.

You say mild changes based on what you read on the ultrasound. Do you feel the way the US report was written that the radiologist said, absent overt cirrhotic morphology?

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Yes, based on what the ultrasonography report says it means absent overt cirrhotic morphology.

Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
