Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am 45 years old. I am having on and off fever since last week. I had a cough and cold but it is beginning to heal. I am also having phlegm now. But the fever does not go away especially in the afternoon to night time. I suspect that I have some infection. I am taking Paracetamol 500 mg for fever and 500 mg of Vitamin C.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern. According to your statement, you have been suffering from fever since last week with a cough and cold. Cough is now becoming manageable but fever is not still subsided. This type of clinical features may result from Enteric fever, RTI (respiratory tract infection), UTI (urinary tract infection), typhus or Rickettsial fever, dengue fever, etc.

You should undergo some investigations like CBC (complete blood count), Widal test, Urine R/M/E, CXR (chest x-ray), Weil Felix test, triple antigen test, blood for IgG for dengue, etc., to find out the underlying cause for your present sufferings and then treat them accordingly.

According to the present circumstances, you can also undergo an antigen or antibody test for COVID-19 or PCR (polymerase chain reaction) for COVID19. In the meantime, you can take Cefixime 400 mg and Fexofenadine along with your current medications.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
