Brother's fever, body pain since 2 days. Seasonal?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My brother has had a fever for the past two days. And now he has pain in his whole body.

Is that seasonal fever or something else?

Please help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

You need to get your brother thoroughly checked. A fever profile needs to be done in a season like this; mosquito-borne disease are very common.

Please undergo

  1. CBC (complete blood count) with ESR (erythrocyte sedimentation rate).

  2. PSMP (peripheral smear for malaria parasite).

  3. Dengue, IgM, IgG.

  4. Chikungunya.

  5. Liver profile tests (SGPT (serum glutamic pyruvic transaminase), SGOT (serum glutamic oxaloacetic transaminase), GGT (gamma glutamyl transferase), ALP (alkaline phosphatase), etc).

  6. Widal Test.

Treatment:

  1. Tablet Paracetamol 500 mg thrice a day.

  2. Tablet Cefixime 200 mg, twice a day.

  3. Capsule Omez (Omeprazole) 20 mg, twice a day.

  4. ORS (oral rehydration solution) one pack in 4.17 cups of water, drink as and when required for all for five days.

  5. Drink lukewarm water.

I hope it helps.

Thank you.
