Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

This query is regarding my 60-year-old mother. She has fever and hoarseness of voice since three days. We did her CBC. Kindly suggest next steps.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Since you have not mentioned anything about any other symptoms or other associated illnesses let me assume there is nothing like that for her. Here your mother's CBC (complete blood count) is fine (attachment removed to protect patient identity). Nothing abnormal in that. This may be a mild throat infection or upper respiratory tract infection. So, I would suggest an oral antibiotic, maybe tablet Cefixime 200 mg morning and afternoon for three days, with tablet Rantac (Ranitidine) twice daily, Paracetamol SOS, and tablet Levocet (Levocetirizine dihydrochloride) 5 mg twice daily for three days. Also, gargle with Betadine (Povidone-iodine) solution twice a day advised with rest and fluids. This will be enough. I will review as necessary.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for your reply. These are her only complaints. No other symptoms. She is not diabetic or hypertensive. No cough or breathlessness present.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Okay fine. Then this will be fair enough for her.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
