Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I got a cut on my frenulum during intercourse nine months ago. It was hurting initially, but I felt better after a few days. I had intercourse again, and the cut got reopened. I took a break for two weeks from intercourse, and it felt better. Then again, the cut reopened on masturbation. I am applying antibiotic ointment multiple times a day to facilitate healthy healing, keeping it clean, and exercise a lot, but the cut does not heal completely. The cut cannot withstand even the average intensity during intercourse. What should I do to get it healed because it is highly annoying to my sex life?

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

The minimum number of days for abstinence from any sexual activity is 28 days and preferably six weeks if it is recurrent. So, unless you have diabetes, you should give proper time to heal. I suggest you continue applying antibiotic ointment as before and maintain local hygiene.

Thanks.

Regards.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thanks for the response.

It seems much impossible to go a month without sexual activity, considering I am 20 years and stay with a girl all of the time. I have tried abstinence numerous times and usually give up around the tenth day. Is there anything I can do to make the cut heal faster or continue to have sex after a shorter period? Also, when I am cleaning the wound, should I be using soap or just water?

Thank you for the help.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

The reason to avoid intercourse is while having intercourse; there is stretching of the skin, which causes micro ulceration and needs time to heal. I suggested the average time required for proper healing. You have to decide how much maximum amount of time you can give. When you clean the wound, just water is sufficient, and dry the area thoroughly after that.

Thanks.

Regards.
