Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I suffered from ringworm (tinea corporis) long back. I used Itraconazole 100 mg for two weeks. Now the same has appeared on buttocks. For this, what medicine needs to be used? If I use these tablets, will it cause any other side effects? The problem is like round shaped and it is spreading. This is the problem. Please suggest me medication.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have gone through your complaints and reviewed the attached photographs (attachment removed to protect patient identity). You are having tinea which is a superficial fungal infection of the skin. I would recommend you to take oral and topical antifungal medicines. I would recommend you to take capsule Itraconazole (capsule Onitraz) 100 mg twice daily and apply Luliconazole cream (Lulifin) cream on the affected areas once daily for four weeks.

For itching, take tablet Levocetirizine 5 mg once or twice daily depending on the intensity of itching. These medicines will not cause any side effects. These are prescription drugs and should be taken under the supervision of the doctor. Also, keep the area dry and clean, wear loose-fitting cotton clothes, stay in the cool airy environment and avoid sharing of soaps and towel.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

Is it a dangerous health issue? Do I need to worry about it? Or is it just a fungal infection?

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

It is not a dangerous issue but has become a very common and resistant infection. It is simply a superficial fungal infection but will take a long time to resolve.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
