Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have a reddish lump on the bottom of my buttcheek and top of my right thigh. It is causing a lot of problems. I cannot walk or sit properly without hurting it, and when pressure is applied on them, it hurts with extreme pain. It remains the size of a golf ball and grows daily on walking. I walk more during my work at night time. Initially, I thought of it like a pimple. It has been here for years now. It has been grown from the size of a pea to the size of a golf ball. I am taking Staphylex 500, but there is no relief.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern. It looks like a furuncle, which is a type of cutaneous bacterial infection of hair follicles in which there is a formation of erythematous and painful lump formation. The lump is usually filled with pus, or there can be pus discharge. As you are already on oral antibiotics, it would be better to consult a dermatologist in person as it might require an incision and drainage of pus. But it is highly unlikely for a furuncle to persist for a year at the same site. It can come and go but to persist for a year is unlikely. So it will be better to consult in person. Take care.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

I do not have any worries. Thank you so much. It has been here for a year now. I went to the doctor last year for the same thing. But it was never big and bad. I contacted someone close to me, and they requested a surgical clean tomorrow.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Yes, surgical incision and drainage of pus under cover of oral antibiotics is the best option right now. The pus can also be sent for culture and sensitivity to decide the best antibiotic for treatment. I hope you get better soon. Take care.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
