Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am 29 years old. I have discomfort and a heartburn feeling in the middle-upper region of my stomach. I am currently not under any medication but have tried taking an over-the-counter acid reducer, which did not help. I started having excessive diarrhea recently, along with discomfort and heartburn. I did not undergo any lab tests for the same.

Please help.

Hello, Welcome to icliniq.com. I can understand your concern. The pain you are experiencing can be associated with different reasons, and diarrhea might or might not be related to it. Your symptoms suggest a gas issue, but an ultrasound is necessary to confirm it and rule out the other causes. 1) I suggest getting an ultrasound of the whole abdomen done. It will reveal if there are any issues like inflammation, sometimes gall stones (hardened deposits for digestive fluid that can form in your gall bladder) can also cause this. 2)Diarrhea needs to be appropriately treated; if not, you might get dehydrated. Drink plenty of water; ORS (oral rehydration solution) would be best if possible. If diarrhea persists for more than two days, then seek medical help. I hope this helps.

Take care.
