Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am a 25-year-old male with a weight of 141 lbs and a height of five feet four inches. I have a chronic dry cough for the past five days. It becomes more persistent during sleep. I do not have fever. I took a tablet of Cetirizine to rule out the cause of allergy. I have mild heartburn. I am a non-smoker. It looks like GERD. I do not have any other illness.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

The condition of chronic cough indicates a cough presenting for months or years. As it is present just for five days, it suggests some reflux episode. It can occur due to laryngeal irritation. It causes cough and leads to a choking-like sensation in sleep. You can take capsule Deslansoprazole 30 mg one capsule twice daily before breakfast and before dinner for two weeks. You can take syrup Rondec (Dextromethorphan) 10 ml three times a day for ten days. Avoid eating late at night. You should have a time gap of two hours between dinner and sleeping. Avoid smoking and drinking coffee and tea in the evening.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

It is very consistent. I have a hard time while sleeping.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

As it is in acute onset, I suggest you take treatment. After taking treatment, you can see improvements.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

Will warm salt water gargling help me for coughing?

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

I am unable to get Deslansoprazole. What to do?

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Instead of Deslanzoprazole, you can take Esmoprazole 40 mg twice daily.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

I got Esmoprazole 40 mg.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

You can take one capsule 30 minutes before taking breakfast and dinner.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

I am taking syrup and Esmoprazole 40 mg as suggested by you. I have some effect on my cough. I drink milk at room temperature. I am having boiled rice and curd for dinner. I tried to sleep after five hours of my dinner. But still, it was uncomfortable. I am planning to do the same for the next five days without taking spicy foods. Will my cough go away?

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq/com.

You are doing a good job. It takes some time to have some improvement. You will become better within two to three days. Continue using syrup three times daily.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

I will get back to you while having further problems.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

You will become fine soon and do not be worried.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
