Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I had a toothache for which I visited a dentist. He extracted the tooth, cleaned all my teeth, and prescribed me antibiotics. However, after reaching home, I found an abscess on my gum that had popped. Is it normal, or should I visit my dentist again?

Kindly advise.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

Has the abscess been popped more than a week back? If yes, then you need not visit a dentist immediately. However, if it has started after treatment, you must consult a dentist to rule out gum or tooth infection. For the time being, I suggest you do warm saline gargles five to six times a day for a week. It will prevent the recurrence of abscesses.

I hope this helps.

Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
